What Are Traditional Wedding Bands?

Wedding bands

Traditional wedding bands have been an integral part of many cultures around the world. Wedding bands are a tangible symbol of the love and commitment between two people who have decided to stay with each other for the rest of their lives.

The wedding band and engagement ring are traditionally worn on the finger popularly known as the ring finger. It is believed that the ring finger has a nerve that goes straight to the heart. When it comes to wedding bands, these are more minimalistic than an engagement ring

The reason being that most couples prefer to make their wedding rings their daily wear piece of jewelry. This makes them an easy prey to wear and tear, which is why you should choose your wedding band metal with much consideration. Platinum is one of the most durable metals when it comes to wedding bands.

There was a time when traditional wedding bands were plain bands but with time, these bands have evolved to include embellishments such as diamonds and different vintage designs.

Lab Diamonds Vs. Mined Diamonds

What Are Lab Diamonds?

Lab diamonds are the ethical and eco-conscious alternative to naturally mined diamonds. These diamonds are created in a lab by using two processes called HPHT and CVD. Both of these processes mimic how diamonds are naturally made in the environment.

In CVD, a thin diamond seed is placed in a sealed chamber, which is then heated to 800 degree celsius and then the chamber is flooded with carbon rich gasses. The gas ionizes and breaks down into pure carbon which then attaches to the diamond seed. This process continues until a diamond is formed.

Meanwhile in HPHT, a diamond seed is placed in a specifically designed press which is heated to an extreme temperature of 1300-1600 degree celsius with pressures above 870000 pounds per square inch. The carbon atoms deposit on small diamond seed crystals and a lab diamond begins to grow. This crystallization can take anywhere from several days to weeks.

Lab diamonds are also known as synthetic diamonds but they are visually, physically and chemically similar in composition to their mined counterparts.

Are Lab Diamonds Better Than Mined Diamonds?

Natural diamonds form when carbon atoms get squeezed together at extremely high temperature and pressure. Diamond extraction causes irreversible damage to the environment. This process of diamond extraction is also unethical as the working conditions of the workers can hardly be described as humane.

So, if you’re thinking along the terms of sustainability, we can surely say that lab diamonds are definitely better than naturally mined diamonds. Lab diamonds take up less resources than mined diamonds and they are also much more affordable.

When it comes to a traditional wedding band, choosing the right metal band is extremely important. A wedding band will be a piece of jewelry that you’ll be wearing almost every day. If you’re allergic to most metals, you should go for a platinum metal band. Platinum metal bands are hypoallergenic and won’t cause any trouble to your skin.

If you’re a traditional bride and love everything that is made of gold. A yellow gold metal band is going to be your best friend if you’re someone who loves gold in its most traditional sense.

If being a romantic is your second nature, go for the vintage hue of rose gold. The soft pink color of the rose gold metal is a result of the addition of copper to pure gold. We will also make a case for the beautiful white gold. It gives the feel of platinum while being pure gold. So you get the best of both worlds!
